Life and Hubbsters Birthday

Whooo!!!! First new post in like ages! Haha I finally have a computer again! My inlaws were kind enough to give us some old laptops they no longer used and I'm stoked! (Thank you again Casper clan!) My new baby computer is named Jarvis and i love him :)

So I would just like to cover a few things that you have missed out on the last month or so since baby blue died (My  old computer)

First of all I slayed the 200 cupcake making task and had a lot of compliments, to my surprise on my frosting i guess i have finally perfected it! Wooo Hoo!!!! :D   I was super tired by the end though. Next time i'll split the baking into two days!

Next me and the husbter have been addicted to "Lie to Me" We seem to watch an episode every night!

And lastly it was my most wonderful, sexy husbands birthday this last Sunday! His parents sent a box to our house and for days he sat staring at it trying to guess what was in it. Yep that's my hubby. :) When the day finally came i woke up him up at 11:11 (cause what better time is there to make a wish!) and brought him Cake Batter Pancakes (You can never have enough cake on your birthday right?!)

He was so happy (or maybe just sugar high?) and was so adorable i just couldn't stop kissing him (not that i think he minded ;) He after much begging, i let him open his gift from me which was a superman, letter man jacket. I saw it at the store and knew my superhero obsessed husband could not possibly live without it!

His cake was Justice league themed and I spent 5 hours trying to make it just right. The cake was light blue and pink (It was SUPPOSE to be red and dark blue :p)  and had the justice league symbols all the way around it and on top was of course...the super man symbol. :) Will loved it and didn't care that the cake looked more like a baby shower cake on the inside. He's always happy though. Through his eyes the world is happy and good and there is always hope and a happy surprise around the corner. It's kind of nice :)

We drove down to St. George and met his dad, sister and grandparents, soon after my family joined. We had pizza (One of Williams favorite things in the world lol :) and talked for hours! We then had the cake though will blew out the candles to fast so we made him pretend to still be blowing them out so we could have a picture mine didn't turn out though...ah well :)

Saving money on food!

So stories today, I would like to brag that I went grocery shopping for one whole month and only spent 120 $. Yeppers that boils down to 30 dollars a week for food and its not like we are starving either I splurged this week and got the super nice thick cut bacon and Starbucks hot chocolate mix! (I didn't even know they had those!)

Some awesome things on the menu are:
Chimichangas
Orange chicken
Grilled cheese and Homemade Tomato Parmesan  Soup
Mongolain beef
Potato soup
Apricot chicken panni's
Homemade Mac and Cheese
Pulled pork sandwhiches
And ya know half a dozen other things. (Please excuse the full names of the meals. I have this thing where i view food as art so i just can't say "tomato soup" or "beef" it's one of my weird little quirks)

I've discovered the trick for cooking for two... (for those of my friends that have been asking how i do it...here is how! )

First of all soups are really cheap and you always get at least two meals out of them which is great! Once your done eating stick the rest in the freezer and presto chango you have a meal for a couple weeks down the row.

Next trick. Try to stick to one cut of meat. Ours is normally chicken but me and the hubbster can only tolerate the same meat for so long so we have a one other cut of meat this week it's beef. (the pork is left over from last week.)

Tip three. Go meatless twice a week at least! Think Spaghetti or cheese pizza, still good meals just waaaay cheaper :)

Also I know sometime you just can't but if you can GO OUT FOR DINNER. Seriously its a splurge but someday you are going to have kids and going out to dinner where you talk about each other and your day and how much you love each other, will be a thing of the past never to be had again. This is a common complaint i've heard from people in our ward. They say all they talk about now is how the kids are doing, IF they ever manage to get out. Not that kids are bad i think they are the best thing in the world with their chubby cheeks and sweet little cooos and little fingers. (Aw!!!!)  I'm just saying...enjoy the time you have now. Your only going to live this part of your life once so have fun!

Not that i'm all knowing about this at all but all this is what we do :) Haha everything i've learned about budgeting i've learned from my mom. My mom is a pro but i try. For me budgeting is kind of like a game or a treasure hunt. A way to out smart the world. My goal is to always spend less then what we make. It's kind of hard seeing how we only make about 1000 a month and some months we can't, but normally we do pretty good :)

Well anywho mums the word! Till next time!
